1574 Gorilla
Conkouati-Douli National Park, Republic Congo
Fotographer Rudi Delvaux
At last, a gorilla. After 3 days of waiting on in the hide, finally I see a gorilla crossing the river on a blow-down tree. These gorilla's live on the Western lowlands in the Congo basin, in the hot lowland rain forest. They are smaller than mountain gorilla's. A male silverback gorilla weighs between 135 and 175 kg.
The Western lowland gorilla lives in small groups with one adult male and 3 to 6 females.
Gorilla's are basically not agressive. The gorilla will only attack if the circumstances force him to do.
