3009 Watermill in Berber village
Amsoezart, High Atlas, Morocco
Fotographer Danny Cordy
This water mill was situated in the idyllic valley of Amsoezart, nearby the Toubkal, the highest mountain in North Africa (4.200 m). In Amsoezart, a Berber village without electricity, we thought we turned 50 to 100 years back in time. From our guest houses we could observe the miller with his wife and daughter. While his wife had to carry the flour sacks to their house up the hill, the miller hardly moved form his seat next the water mill. When I took a photo, the miller stayed seated. When the other people of the group joined me, he laid down on the ground, as was he a sick man.
