2550 Spear Thistle (Cirsium vulgare syn. Cirsium lanceolatum)
The Ardennes, Belgium
Fotographer Marc Van Aerde
The spear thistle is found in pastures, roadsides and on dykes. Bumblebees, bees and butterflies like this plant because of the nectar. The spear thistle has the sharpest and biggest prickles of all thistles.
